DESCRIPTION:

The site of the project is located in a temperate city cluster, accumulated with six-story building blocks in the area. Therefore, there is a great expectation of the provision of a public space in the middle of the cluster which is welcoming and has an inspirational urban experience.

The project has the best orientation to the summer wind and solar gain. It uses small logical footprint of land, promotes car-free movement by connectivity between various parts of the site and provides flexibility on pedestrian and bicycle access. It also manages rainwater by means of landscape features (pond) and most importantly provides biodiversity in the area by horizontal and vertical green spaces as summer and winter gardens hanging around. The idea of hanging gardens as the main concept is originated from Babylon hanging gardens. Vertical gardens are connected to one another from open-space by means of ramps, circulating around the whole building. Vegetation -mostly in the form of deciduous trees- protects building from direct radiation in summer while they let natural light to penetrate inside in the winter. They can act as a natural acoustic to reduce noise disturbance. In addition, they are used to reduce air pollution by absorbing Co2 while releasing Oxygen into the air.

By the concept of “Hanging gardens”, the project not only has focused on environmental sustainability, but also it achieves economic and social sustainability by the provision of a memorable and high quality spaces for office workers and visitors along.
